LHSofM Jazz Choirs at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival

The University of Idaho Lionel Hampton School of Music's Jazz Choir program involves over 200 students each semester. The choirs perform annually at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival, the largest jazz festival of its kind in the world. The program consists of four ensembles. Jazz Choir I (MusA 118/318) is a large choir of nearly two hundred singers that performs custom choral arrangements of various styles with the assistance of fifteen to twenty instrumentalists. It rehearses three hours per week and is open to all University of Idaho students without an audition. Jazz Choir II (MusA 365) is a highly select small vocal jazz ensemble, specializing in close harmony arrangements and choral versions of instrumental jazz standards. This group rehearses two hours per week and serves as the premier touring jazz choral ensemble at the University of Idaho. Membership in Jazz Choir II is strictly by invitation of the director.
